Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has appealed for spiritual support for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The minister and his delegation visited the Believers Worship Centre, popularly known as the Philadelphia Movement, during a White Sunday service.
With Ghana scheduled to face Croatia in Philadelphia later this month, Adams said he believes the connection between the church and the venue for Ghana’s third group match is significant.
“Ghana’s first game will be in Toronto, Canada. We will face Panama. Our second game will be against England in Boston and the third game is against Croatia, and do you know where we will play that game?” he asked, drawing loud cheers from the congregation.
“Philadelphia in the United States of America,” he added.
“I am not a pastor, nor am I a prophet but I strongly believe this was arranged by God and since we are here and Philadelphia is one of the places we are going to play our games. I strongly believe the God of Philadelphia will intervene in our course,” he said.
Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama before taking on England and Croatia in their remaining Group L matches.
