I deserve the recognition – Linda Ocloo responds to critics after award win

Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has defended her selection as Best Regional Minister at the 6th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Awards, saying she believes her work earned her the recognition.

Speaking after receiving the award, Ocloo said she was not surprised by the honour because she is confident in the contributions she has made to the region.

“I wasn’t surprised of the award I received because sometimes I keep telling people that the little effort you do, when people recognise what you are doing and they give you that recognition, it empowers you to do more,” she said.

The minister noted that while expectations remain high, she believes her performance in office justified the award.

“For me, I know I’ve done a lot for the good people of Greater Accra. Yes, expectations are high though, but I think I’ve done a lot that I deserve that recognition and so to God be the glory,” she added on Asaase Breakfast Show.

Her comments come after some critics questioned her selection for the award.

The ceremony was held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel.

It brought together government officials, traditional leaders and other stakeholders to honour ministers who, according to the organisers, have demonstrated excellence in public service delivery.
