South African police have arrested British IT expert Ndodana Tshuma in Johannesburg following an international search concerning the deaths of his wife and two daughters in the United Kingdom.
Tshuma was taken into custody on Friday in the Kensington area of Johannesburg, where police said he had been staying with relatives. He is expected to appear before a South African court as extradition proceedings to the UK begin.
UK authorities had been searching for Tshuma after the bodies of his wife, Zandile, 42, and their daughters, Nala, 5, and Natalie, 15, were found at their home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, on Monday.
Investigators said Tshuma was later seen on CCTV at Heathrow Airport before boarding a flight to Zimbabwe. Police in the UK worked with Interpol and authorities in Zimbabwe and South Africa during the search.
An Interpol Red Notice was issued on Thursday, and South African police said a tip-off from a family member led officers to his location the following day.
Police believe Tshuma travelled to Zimbabwe before returning to South Africa, where he was eventually arrested.
