Defeated NPP Constituency Vice Chairman dumps party for NDC

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Chairman aspirant in the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency in the recently held elections, Richard Twumhene, has announced his resignation from the party, saying he has decided to join the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Twumasi, who contested for the position of second vice chairman in the party’s constituency elections was defeated and is therefore announcing his defection to the NDC on his own terms.

“‘I’m leaving before I’m pushed,’” he said while announcing his decision.

Twumhene disclosed that he has already engaged the NDC about his planned switch and claimed the party had welcomed the move.

“‘I’ve held talks with the NDC, and they are extremely happy about my decision to join them,’” he said.

He also expressed confidence that his political experience would help the NDC strengthen its position in the constituency.

“‘Given my level of experience, I have what it takes to help the NDC win all five seats available, and that will contribute to victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections,’” he stated.

The announcement comes after the NPP conducted constituency executive elections on July 11 across 275 constituencies.
