United Party’s Solomon Owusu has criticised the handling of the prosecution in the Sedina Tamakloe case, arguing that prosecutors must build stronger cases to ensure accused persons do not escape justice.
Speaking on Joy Prime, Owusu said he was surprised after reviewing the judgment, claiming there were shortcomings in how the case was presented.
“We know people have stolen. If you are doing a case, make sure you do a watertight case so that nobody gets away with that,” he said.
Owusu noted that Sedina Tamakloe had faced multiple charges, including causing financial loss to the state, stealing, conspiracy to steal and improper use of state property.
He argued that the prosecution failed to present a convincing case despite the seriousness of the allegations.
“The mere fact that we are saying you must prosecute… make sure you do a watertight case,” he added, insisting that cases involving alleged financial crimes should be thoroughly prepared before being taken to court.
