Ghanaian TikToker Almed has rejected reports linking his recent confrontation with police officers to politics, insisting that his comments were only about defending his friends.
According to him, he did not mention any politician during his live broadcast and accused some bloggers of presenting a different version of events.
“I did not mention any politician. I didn’t speak about any politician on the particular live that I went on,” he said in an update on Instagram.
Almed said his focus during the incident was to understand why his friends were being accused of kissing inside a car.
“I was only trying to defend my friends and trying to make sense of what the officers were claiming,” he stated.
He said people who were present at the scene, including parents and other bystanders, also questioned what was happening and tried to calm the situation.
“The mothers and fathers over there asked me to apologise, and on the live I mentioned that in the Ghanaian society, it is morally right to speak well to your adults,” he said.
Almed maintained that his friends were not kissing and that the situation was based on a misunderstanding.
“I want to state, nothing like that happened in the car. Nobody was kissing anybody in the car,” he added.
