Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Minister for Education, has claimed that former Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam Anta could have crippled the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region if the NPP had won the 2024 general election.
“If we didn’t have people like Haruna Iddrisu, the former Finance Minister would have collapsed the NDC in the Northern Region if the NPP had won the 2024 general election, given the level of empowerment the party gave him,” he said.
Mr Mohammed said the former Finance Minister’s strategy was gaining ground, but argued that Mr Iddrisu’s skills and experience helped the NDC.
“The kind of strategy the former Finance Minister introduced in the North—without the skills and experience of someone like Haruna Iddrisu, trust me, Anta would have collapsed the NDC,” he said.
He added that Mr Iddrisu had supported politicians and ordinary people behind the scenes.
“He has impacted politicians and ordinary people behind the scenes, without cameras. I am a beneficiary of his great impact on my life. He feels fulfilled impacting people behind the scenes rather than in front of cameras, and that is why he continues to secure the largest number of votes of any MP in the Northern Region,” he said.
Mr Mohammed also said the Education Minister does not believe in publicising his acts of generosity on social media.
“At Haruna Iddrisu’s level, he does not need to post what he has done to be popular. His good works are dotted all over the region,” he said.
