August 6 memorial service: God knows best – Sheikh Aremeyaw mourns victims

The Official Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu has used the memorial for the eight victims of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash to speak about the purpose of human life and the responsibility people carry while alive.

Speaking at the National Interfaith Memorial Service, he said life should not be viewed as something without direction.

“We come to life with a programme determined by God. God has a purpose for our creation,” he said.

The memorial service was held one year after the Ghana Air Force helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight people, including senior government officials who were travelling to Obuasi for an official assignment.

Sheikh Aremeyaw said every person has a role to fulfil during their lifetime.

“When we are in this life, we live a life such that we encounter the destiny as God has made it for us, but also to fulfil a purpose and to accomplish a mission,” he stated.

He added that life should be seen as a period where people’s actions and contributions matter.

“We have come to this earth, executed what we have to do, successes and failures and accomplishments, and the one who granted us this life for a purpose wants to examine us how we lived this life,” he said.
