Minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has described claims that he attacked the person of Nana Yaa Jantuah as sheer propaganda by the governing National Democratic Congress.
According to him, the NDC saw the success of their August 6, 2026 demonstration as a threat and decided to use propaganda to downplay the success chalked by the NPP.
Speaking on Accra-based Metro TV, he mentioned that a senior communications person of the NDC confessed that the demonstration was a success and the governing political party had to paint a bad picture of the protest.
“I am human; I can make mistakes, and I do make mistakes, but I am very deliberate in my choice of words when I have the opportunity to speak for and on behalf of the party. I am mindful of my responsibility, but you know my friends in the NDC; they can do their mischief and get people to believe their mischief.
The very concerns of the demonstration were what was articulated. There was no attack on anybody, but a friend of mine over the weekend engaged me in a chat and I said but why are you guys doing this and he said leader you guys your demonstration was successful and we wanted to kill it so the strategy was to use Nana Yaa Jantuah to kill the demonstration’s success,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nana Yaa Jantuah has threatened to petition the minority leader for condescendingly speaking to her. She is demanding an apology from the minority leader, whom she says is her little brother.
