“Pause and Review First” – Adom-Otchere Raises Concerns Over Tarkwa Mining Contract Extension

Ghanaian journalist Paul Adom-Otchere has cautioned at government about how to handle the proposed lease extension for Goldfields Ghana Limited.

He said the decision should not be taken without careful review of the national interest.

He appealed directly to officials responsible for the sector.

“Honourable Minister, His Excellency the President, it is in your hands,” he said on his show on Metro TV.

He warned against rushing into another long-term agreement without reforms.

“You have been elected to protect the interest of Ghana. This must be looked at properly,” he added.

He also stressed the need for better contract structures that favour the country.

“We must not continue with arrangements that do not benefit Ghana,” he said.

He concluded by calling for a broader national conversation on resource management and ownership.
