Chief of Staff of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has called on members of the party to eschew their personal grievances and work towards rebuilding unity within the party.
Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com in response to concerns raised by former NPP presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, Hon. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said he and Dr. Bawumia were also subjected to insults and attacks during the party’s presidential primaries but have chosen to move forward.
According to him, one must develop a thick skin in politics to accommodate all shades of individuals and groupings since certain acts have become common norms in politics.
“Dr Bawumia and I too were insulted and attacked during the NPP presidential primaries and campaign, but we have swallowed it and moved on,” he stated.
The former Suame lawmaker noted that the party’s current priority should be unity rather than revisiting past disagreements and personal grievances.
“There is the need for unity in the party, so we should ignore our grievances and focus on unity as a party,” he said.
Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu stressed that reconciliation and collective effort would be crucial if the NPP is to strengthen itself ahead of future electoral contests.
“That is my advice to everyone,” he added.
