Emelia Afi Agbenyo will be sacked when NDC leaves power – Dr Bempong

Political commentator Dr Eric Bempong has questioned whether newly appointed Electoral Commission (EC) Deputy Chairperson Emelia Afi Agbenyo would remain in office if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) loses power.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV, Dr Bempong expressed uncertainty about her ability to continue at the Commission after a change of government, even if constitutional provisions protect her.

“I don’t know if, when the NDC as a party leaves power, she can work there. I am not sure,” he wondered on the show monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

He added that he was uncertain whether constitutional protections would guarantee her continued stay at the Electoral Commission under a future administration.

“Even if the constitution protects her, she would not stay,” Dr Bempong stated.

Dr Bempong did not provide further details on the specific constitutional provisions he believes may or may not protect Agbenyo’s appointment.
