Fred Kyei Mensah urges Obinims to keep marital problems private and resolve them peacefully

Veteran music producer Fred Kyei Mensah has urged Bishop Daniel Obinim and his wife, Florence Obinim, to stop taking their marital issue to social media and work through their problems privately.

Kyei Mensah said he had received several calls, text messages and WhatsApp messages from people asking him to help bring a truce between the couple because of his close relationship with them.

“My cellphone has been inundated with a number of calls, text and WhatsApp messages from some people to call for a truce between the OBINIMS as a result of a seemingly fallout from their 22 year old marriage and my close association with them,” he wrote.

He said he believed this was the time to show the couple more love and help calm tensions surrounding their marriage.

Kyei Mensah also criticised bloggers, social media users and others whom he accused of fuelling the situation by constantly discussing the couple’s problems.

He said the Obinims could have avoided much of the public attention if they had kept their disagreements away from live radio and television interviews, leaked audio recordings and private messages that later became public.

“If both couples had paid attention to detail and had not brought their marriage issues out through live radio and tv interviews, leaked audio tapes, WhatsApp and text messages, the public wouldn’t have gotten anything to talk about it,” he said.

The producer recalled that he had previously advised the couple in June to resolve their issues privately because publicly exposing problems within their marriage could affect their children and the reputation of both the couple and their church.

He also appealed to the public to avoid interfering in marital problems, arguing that people often do not know what happens within another person’s marriage.

Kyei Mensah, who said he has been married for 37 years, explained that he had made a personal commitment never to expose serious disagreements with his wife to family members because such information could later be used against either party if they reconciled.

He urged Daniel and Florence Obinim to communicate better and resolve their differences peacefully and internally.

“Silence sometimes, is an answer to a lot of questions,” he said.

Kyei Mensah ended his message by expressing his continued love for the couple and hoping that the current difficulties would pass.

“Bishop Daniel Kwadwo Obinim ne Florence Obinim in the voice of Gyata Nation, ay3 yie! Learn to solve your marriage problems peacefully and internally and stop bringing your marriage issues for those chastising you in public,” he wrote.
