The Ga Traditional Council has directed all shops, markets and commercial entities in Accra to close from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, for the National General Cleaning Days.
In a statement signed by the Registrar for Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Council said, “all shops, markets, and commercial entities within Accra remain closed between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on both days.”
The Council said the exercise is being carried out in partnership with the government, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to improve sanitation in the capital.
It added that the closure is mandatory, except for emergency services, essential medical units and authorised sanitation personnel.
“Acts of civic duty and discipline are required from all citizens as we come together to cleanse our land,” the statement said.
