Felix Kwakye Ofosu has rejected claims that people accused of crimes in Ghana are treated badly.
Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints monitored by MyNewsGh, he asked what exactly Ken Ofori-Atta is afraid of.
“What has happened in Ghana that is so extraordinary?” he asked. “Who has been treated unfairly?”
He said Ghana does not operate like a lawless country.
“We are not Russia,” he stated. “This country has courts and due process.”
According to him, anyone who feels mistreated by security agencies can seek help from the courts.
“If bail is too harsh, you go to court,” he said. “That is the law.”
He cited past examples.
“National Service persons who were detained went to court,” he explained. “That is how the system works.”
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said there has been only one major death in custody in recent decades.
“The only high-profile case was in 2005,” he noted. “That is not how Ghana works.”
He concluded by saying Ken is not special.
“There is nothing extraordinary about him,” he said. “The law applies to everyone.”
