Ghana will soon invite investors holding the country’s Eurobonds to exchange their bonds for reissued ones, Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam announced during a monthly economic update on Thursday, August 29.
This move is part of a broader strategy to address Ghana’s estimated US$30 billion national debt.
Amin Adam described the bond exchange as critical to Ghana’s efforts to overhaul its debt situation.
“Completing the debt exchange will pave the way for normalising our relationship with the bond market,” he stated.
The exchange process is expected to last 21 days, with Amin Adam expressing confidence that all bondholders will participate.
He anticipates that the exchange offer will be launched next week.
This initiative is part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to restructure its substantial debt and stabilise the economy after recent financial difficulties.
