Ministry of Education Releases GH₵50 Million to WAEC for Examination Support

The Ministry of Education has announced the release of GH₵50 million to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to help administer the critically important Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a press release dated August 29, Kwasi Kwarteng, the Ministry’s spokesperson, confirmed that this amount represents a partial payment towards WAEC’s outstanding debts.

These funds, earmarked for the smooth conduct of these critical examinations, underline the government’s recognition of the importance of these assessments in the educational journey of our students.

“This disbursement reaffirms the Government’s commitment to fulfilling its financial obligations to WAEC, ensuring that the Council’s operations continue without interruption,” the release stated.

Kwarteng further assured all stakeholders, including students, parents, guardians, and the general public, of the government’s unwavering dedication to maintaining a high-quality educational environment.

“We wish to reassure all stakeholders of our dedication to sustaining an environment that fosters seamless, efficient, and high-quality education for all Ghanaian students,” Kwarteng added.
