I Declined Several Ministerial Entitlements – Sports Minister

Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams said he declined several benefits tied to his ministerial position, including domestic staff and a cook, and insisted he relies on drivers already available at the ministry.

The Lawmaker for Buem Constituency made the remarks in response to claims that his personal driver failed to return to Ghana after the World Cup.

He dismissed the claims, saying his driver was back in the country and had driven him to the interview.

The minister also explained that he had not placed any driver on the ministry’s payroll simply because the individual had accompanied him into office.

“I have not put any driver on ministerial pay because I came with them when taking my position. I make use of the drivers already present at the ministry,” he said on Accra-based Asempa FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com

Adams added that he had chosen not to claim several other benefits available to ministers because he has the country’s interest at heart.

“Domestic staff, cook, among others, I never accepted any of that,” he said.
