Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A Plus, has defended his performance in Parliament, insisting that his work over the past year justifies any recognition he receives.
In a Facebook post following the 6th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours, the lawmaker argued that his critics had underestimated him before he entered Parliament.
“You were all in this country when some people said I was going to Parliament to do nothing because the NDC has an overwhelming majority,” he wrote.
A Plus said his efforts go beyond what is publicly seen, claiming he personally finances some of his official engagements.
“I buy my own tickets to travel and look for investors. I pay for my own hotel accommodation. I don’t receive per diem when I travel,” he stated.
The MP also said he avoids using public funds meant to support vulnerable people.
“I don’t use the common fund for myself. That money is meant for poor people. I will not use it,” he added.
“Through dedicated service to my constituency, my country and humanity, I am very sure that before President Mahama ends his term, I will receive the Order of the Volta,” he said.
According to him, recognition should come from measurable impact rather than public relations campaigns.
“Impact cannot be bought. It must be earned through hard work, sacrifice, results and service to the people,” A Plus stated.
