Actor Yaw Dabo has also called for stronger collaboration between government and private volunteer groups in tackling sanitation challenges contributing to flooding in Accra.
He specifically highlighted the efforts of the Buzstop Boys, a community-based clean-up group, suggesting they should be formally supported.
“I don’t know why we haven’t given a group like the Buzstop Boys a government contract.
“Look at all they have been doing. I haven’t seen any government sanitation agency work as hard as that group,” he said on Okay FM.
He added that with proper support, the group could make a major impact on drainage improvement and flood control.
“If you give them all the equipment they need, within five years there will be no flooding issues,” he stated.
He made the statement in reaction to the recent floods that have inundated parts of Accra and beyond, alongside the conservation it has triggered.
