I’ll sue NPP if the constitutional amendment goes through—Chairman Butey

Outgone Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Butey, has threatened to sue the political party if the various amendments made during the party’s delegates conference are added to its constitution.

He says he will not sign the amendments and expects that no one will sign them because, on the day of the conference, he announced that the party could not amend its constitution.

“I am ready to be sacked or suspended. I am fighting for the rights of the people of the party, so they should do all they want. The party people do not accept what happened on Saturday. There were no, but they said it was yes,” he said.

Adding that, “If what they did on Saturday was right, they wouldn’t have called to apologise to me for what they did. Frank Davies and others came to apologise to me, but I said I wouldn’t accept this.

I am the head of the party, and they were supposed to bring what they were going to do for me to have a look at. They did the same thing the other time, and that created a problem. This time around, too, they are doing the same thing, which is not right. They did not even let me look into what’s in the amendment until I got to the venue for the event,” he said.
