The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman, Dr Ebenezer Prince Arhin, together with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Eric Stanley Acquah, has handed over a six-unit classroom block, described as a legacy project, to Mfantseman Girls’ Senior High School (SHS) to ease congestion at the school.
The project was designed to accommodate the growing student population driven by enrolment initiatives such as the Free SHS programme.
Handing the project over to the school authorities, Dr. Arhin said he believed the classrooms would create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning. He said the project also reaffirms President Mahama’s commitment to improving educational conditions in Mfantseman and beyond.
Dr. Arhin expressed disappointment that most students in the Mfantseman constituency do not usually gain admission to Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS. He urged the school’s administration to consider his proposal and admit more students from the constituency.
“Students of the Mfantseman constituency must benefit from their sweat, or must benefit from Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School,” he said.
Describing himself and the MCE as “commission general,” Dr. Arhin commissioned several newly constructed projects across the municipality. They include CHPS compounds with nurses’ quarters at Amissahkrom and Baifikrom, a six-unit classroom block at Mfantsiman M/A Basic School, and a two-storey block of 60 lockable stores at Anomabo.
He said several projects had been commissioned within less than two years of his administration, which, according to him, had “never happened in the history of the Mfantseman constituency.”
The MP and his team also visited Baifikrom-Samairia to commission an ultra-modern health centre with a two-bedroom self-contained nurses’ quarters, to improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.
“No political party, no administration in Mfantseman has been able to accomplish health centre projects in the Mfantseman constituency in less than two years,” he said.
