Jordan Ayew travels to England to complete Sheffield move

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has left the country and is travelling to England to complete a move to a club in Sheffield.

The 34-year-old forward is expected to join either Sheffield United or Sheffield Wednesday. His new club will be confirmed after he arrives in England and completes the final steps of the transfer.

Ayew has been without a club since the World Cup and is now close to returning to competitive football.

He left Leicester City before the tournament after the club were relegated from the Championship.

A move to Blackburn Rovers is no longer happening, while Southampton are also no longer an option for the experienced forward.

Ayew also held talks with Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia, but the discussions did not progress as he preferred to continue his career in one of Europe’s bigger leagues.
