Abena Osei-Asare says Kennedy Agyapong’s business background gives him an advantage as the NPP searches for a leader who can drive economic growth.
She argued that Ghana’s development cannot rely solely on government spending.
“I have been in government for eight years, and I know government alone cannot develop a nation,” she said on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, monitored by MyNewsGh.
According to her, Kennedy Agyapong understands private sector growth because he has built and sustained businesses in Ghana.
“He has done business in this country. He understands how the private sector works,” she noted.
She rejected claims that leadership should be based on academic titles or elite backgrounds.
“It is not about names or appearances. It is about who can get the work done,” she said.
Addressing criticisms about Kennedy Agyapong’s style, she said results matter more than perceptions.
“We want someone who can bring results, create jobs, and move the country forward,” she added.
