A lady from Kenya who is based in the United Kingdom, has graduated from university at the age of 41 after completing her studies while managing four separate cancer diagnoses.
Identified as Gladys Chepkoech, her graduation marked the end of a journey that involved balancing academic work, medical appointments and raising her children.
According to reports, Gladys continued with her studies despite changes in her health, adjusting her schedule around treatment sessions and attending classes whenever she was able.
Rather than putting her education on hold, she worked around her circumstances and completed her coursework during available periods between hospital visits and treatment.
Gladys has said her children played an important role in keeping her focused throughout the period. She explained that she wanted to show them through her actions the importance of faith, determination and perseverance.
Her story has attracted attention from other cancer survivors, mature students and parents who have identified with her experience of continuing education despite personal challenges.
