Mahama arrives in Belarus for bilateral talks and cooperation agreements

President John Dramani Mahama has begun an official state visit to Belarus at the invitation of President Aleksandr Lukashenko.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the visit is aimed at deepening relations between Ghana and Belarus while exploring opportunities in agriculture, trade, education and technical cooperation.

A key part of the trip will be a meeting between the two leaders.

“President Mahama and President Lukashenko will hold private bilateral talks. This will be followed by an expanded diplomatic session with ministers and senior officials from both countries,” the statement said.

During the visit, President Mahama is also expected to tour major agricultural and industrial facilities in the Belarusian city of Brest as part of efforts to support Ghana’s industrialisation and food security agenda.

The Presidency further disclosed that the two countries are expected to sign at least four bilateral agreements.

“These agreements are designed to foster mutual growth and institutional collaboration between Ghana and Belarus,” the statement noted.

President Mahama is scheduled to return to Ghana on June 9, 2026.
