Mahama government doing far better than NPP’s eight years – Fiifi Kwetey

NDC General Secretary Fiifi Kwetey has said the general mood among Ghanaians suggests that President John Mahama’s administration is performing significantly better than the previous NPP government.

He acknowledged that the country had not reached the level of development Ghanaians expected, but maintained that the current administration had made progress in its conduct, accountability and management of public affairs.

Kwetey said citizens were able to recognise both the government’s achievements and its shortcomings, insisting that the NDC administration should be honest about areas where improvement was needed.

“There are things that clearly are not good enough, and you need to have the courage to say, ‘No, this is not good enough, and we should be able to do better,’” he said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana.

He added that, despite the challenges that remained, his assessment of public sentiment was that the current government was doing better than the NPP did during its eight years in office.

“On the whole, I will tell you that, checking the mood of the country, I see that largely the mood of this country is that this government is doing far, far, far better than we saw in the last eight years under the NPP,” Kwetey stated.

He stressed that the NDC was not claiming to have delivered everything Ghanaians wanted, saying the administration still had work to do.

“It doesn’t mean that the people believe that we’ve reached paradise as yet,” he said.
