Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife, Hajia Samira, are safe and in good health, despite recent media reports suggesting otherwise.
According to Akbar Khomeini, Special Aide to Dr. Bawumia, the couple left Doha, Qatar, earlier today to travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, an important Islamic pilgrimage.
“Dr. Bawumia and his wife are both fine and safe,” Khomeini said.
The couple is set to begin their Umrah on Thursday, March 5, 2026, and plans to return to Ghana on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Khomeini emphasized that their travel is purely for religious purposes and unrelated to any security concerns.
