Minority Urges Completion of Accra-Kumasi Highway After Birimso Bridge Crash

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has called for the urgent completion of ongoing works on the Accra-Kumasi Highway following a crash at the Birimso Bridge that left at least 15 people feared dead.

In a statement signed by Hon. Kennedy Nyarko Osei, Ranking Member of the Roads and Transport Committee, the caucus expressed condolences to affected families and urged government to prioritise road safety.

“Far too many lives have been lost on this highway, and the nation cannot continue to accept these recurring tragedies as inevitable,” the Minority said.

The caucus argued that completing existing bypasses and unfinished sections of the highway should take immediate priority while plans for the proposed Accra-Kumasi Expressway continue.
