American-Ghanaian comedian Michael Blackson has labelled the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) as the worst in Ghana in a lengthy post on X.
The entertainer accused the facility of focusing more on payments than updating his family about his mother’s condition before her passing.
Mr Blackson said his mother spent her final month at UGMC and claimed communication from the hospital centred mainly around bills.
“University of Ghana Medical Centre called me every time payment was due, but the doctors never once called me to tell me how my mom was doing,” he wrote.
Blackson alleged that his family spent about Ghc250,000 on his mother’s treatment within one month.
“In one month they collected about 250k cedis and then told me she caught an infection and died,” he stated.
He further claimed that after his mother’s passing, the hospital informed him that there was an outstanding balance before revealing the cause of her condition.
The comedian also accused the facility of misdiagnosis and said the family had concerns about the treatment his mother received.
