Astitute Businessman and New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant Paul Afoko has revealed that he has consulted key party leaders, including former Presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor, as well as the party’s 2024 presidential candidate and current flagbearer of the party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, about his decision to contest for the party’s national chairmanship.
Speaking on Owia TV, Mr Afoko said his first meeting was with Dr Bawumia, whom he informed of his intention to help rebuild the party.
“To show that I mean business, the first person I went to meet was Dr. Bawumia. I told him I was coming to do whatever I could for the party,” he said.
He disclosed that he subsequently met former President Akufo-Addo, who assured him of his willingness to work with whoever emerges as National Chairman.
“He told me he was willing to work with anybody who wins the National Chairmanship and that if it was me, he was also willing to work with me,” Mr. Afoko stated.
According to him, former President John Agyekum Kufuor also endorsed his decision to contest.
“He told me it was a good thing and that I had his blessings,” he added.
