No one knew it would be Castro’s last performance – Blackboy recalls 2014 Legends Night

Media personality Godfred Laryea, popularly known as Blackboy, has paid tribute to musician Castro, recalling what he described as the artiste’s final public performance before his disappearance in 2014.

In a social media post marking 12 years since the incident, Blackboy said Castro delivered one of the strongest performances of his career during the Legends Night event in the United Kingdom, which he co-hosted.

“On this night in the UK back in 2014, ‘The Legends Night’, you gave one of the best performances of your entire career. No one knew that evening that it was actually your last performance, your ‘drop the mic’ moment,” he wrote.

According to Blackboy, the audience responded with a standing ovation after the performance, adding that no one present anticipated it would be Castro’s final appearance on stage.

“I’m glad I got the honour to co-host your last show. Together we made history that night,” he said.

Reflecting on Castro’s disappearance, Blackboy noted that many questions remain unanswered.

“Twelve years on, no one knows what actually happened on that fateful day, except for you, Janet and the Almighty. So many questions and no answers to them,” he wrote.

He also remembered moments they shared outside the stage, including interviews, trips and conversations, describing Castro as someone who often made people around him laugh.

,“Wherever you are today, Castro, I’m not giving you flowers, but here is your mic… the tool with which you captivated the world. Stay in power and your legacy lives on, Fiifi,” Blackboy wrote Concluded his tribute.
