Renowned preacher and gospel musician Sonnie Badu has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to explain the Black Stars’ performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the team’s Round of 32 exit.
Reacting to Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Colombia, which ended the country’s campaign, Badu said the GFA should account for the team’s performance after appealing to Ghanaians for support ahead of the tournament.
“The Ghana Football Association owes us some answers. Before the tournament, they rallied the nation for support and funding, which we provided.
“Now that things didn’t go as planned, it’s only fair that they explain what happened,” he wrote on social media
Badu said he was not calling for blame or insults but believed the public deserved an official explanation.
“No insults, no disrespect, just honest answers. I think it’s time for a press conference with top sports journalists,” he stated.
He also commented on Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew, suggesting the forward’s role in the team may reflect the tactical instructions given by successive coaches.
“It seems to me that many coaches adore Jordan because he’s a team player who takes instructions well.
But have you ever stopped to think that maybe he’s just doing what he’s told?” Badu wrote.
