Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation, according to the UK Mirror.
The suspension comes after the 41-year-old left the national team camp following a serious disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus.
The punishment was automatically triggered under the federation’s rules.
A disciplinary council is now expected to meet to decide how long Ronaldo’s ban will last.
The Portugal captain could face a suspension of between one and six months.
Despite publicly apologising, Ronaldo admitted that he deserved to be punished for his actions.
