The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, says former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo has no obligation to publicly explain her resignation from the Council of State.
Speaking on JoyNews, Apaak said Akuffo’s reasons for stepping down remain a personal matter unless she chooses to disclose them herself.
“If she wants us to know why she resigned, she will say it,” he said.
According to Apaak, the former Chief Justice has not communicated any reasons for her resignation to the Presidency and has also not made them public.
He said it is entirely within her rights to decide whether to explain her decision.
“It is her prerogative to decide whether she wants to share with us why she resigned,” he stated.
Apaak added that attempts to speculate about her reasons for leaving the Council of State would be inappropriate.
“While she has not decided to say it, we cannot guess or try to decipher why she decided to resign,” he said.
He described Sophia Akuffo as someone who speaks her mind and suggested that if she wanted her reasons to be known, she would make them public herself.
