Spain beat Argentina 1-0 to win 2026 FIFA World Cup

Spain are the 2026 FIFA World Cup champions after beating Argentina 1-0 in the final.

Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match in extra time. He fired a powerful shot past Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in the 106th minute to give Spain the victory.

The win gives Spain their second men’s World Cup title and their first since winning the tournament in 2010.

Lamine Yamal, who was only three years old when Spain won their first World Cup, has now added a World Cup winners’ medal to his growing list of achievements with Barcelona and the national team.

For Argentina, the defeat could mark the end of a remarkable era led by Lionel Messi. The 39-year-old helped his country win the 2022 FIFA World Cup and two Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024 before reaching another World Cup final in 2026.
