A 20-year-old suspected armed robber, Muntari Munumi, has collapsed and died while leading police officers to arrest his alleged accomplices in the Upper East Region.
According to the police, Munumi complained of dizziness while being transported by officers before suddenly losing consciousness. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body has been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The Upper East Regional Police Command said Munumi had earlier been arrested at Sapeliga after allegedly robbing two people of a motorbike, three mobile phones and Ghc1,820 at gunpoint.
The victims reportedly overpowered him and seized his M16 A2 assault rifle after he fired several shots. Members of the Googo Neighbourhood Watch Committee subsequently helped arrest him and handed him over to the police.
