A leading member of United Party (UP), Hopeson Adorye has contrasted the flood response of the previous NPP administration with that of the current NDC government, saying the two handled similar disasters differently.
Referring to the 2023 Akosombo Dam spillage and the recent floods in Accra, Adorye said, “In 2023 Volta Region was submerged due to Akosombo spillage and the then government gave them nothing.
“Today Accra is flooded and Ghc350 million has been released to mitigate their suffering by the government of the day.”
He described the two responses as evidence of a difference in governance.
“There is a clear difference between the two governments,” he stated.
Adorye also appealed to the government to extend financial support to flood-affected communities in the Volta Region.
“My request to the government of the day is that, after Accra, just allocate some money for affected areas in Volta Region as well,” he said.
