WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup: We need to take our chances seriously against Niger – Black Maidens captain

Black Maidens captain Seidatu Wahab says Ghana will not underestimate Niger when the two teams meet in their final Group A game at the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup.

Wahab said the team will stick to its game plan and follow the instructions of the coaches.

“From what we saw when they played against Togo and scored many goals, we are still not underrating them. We will just play our normal game, go onto the field, listen to our coaches, and do what we have been doing,” she said.

The captain also described Ghana’s defeat to Nigeria as a difficult lesson for the team.

“The game against Nigeria was a tough one. As captain, I think we need to take our chances seriously. We were punished, we were really punished,” she said.

Wahab said the team is using the experience to prepare better for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

“So we are going into tomorrow’s game for 90 minutes and we are going to use it [as preparation].”

Ghana will face Niger in their final Group A game as the Black Maidens look to secure a place in the next stage of the competition.
