Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to adopt a long-term strategy as preparations begin for the Black Stars’ next FIFA World Cup campaign.
The former Black Stars winger believes Ghana must focus on building a competitive team over time instead of chasing immediate success.
Speaking on Joy Sports, Kingston stressed the importance of giving the next head coach enough time to implement a clear vision and develop a squad capable of competing at the highest level.
He also suggested that the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations should be treated as part of the rebuilding process rather than a tournament the Black Stars are expected to win.
According to Kingston, Ghana must first build a strong and balanced team before setting its sights on lifting the continental title.
“We shouldn’t be thinking about winning the AFCON because we do not have a team,” he said.
