We need solutions, not assurances – Miracles Aboagye tells Mahama after flood inspection

Former presidential staffer Dennis Miracles Aboagye has urged President John Dramani Mahama to publicly outline the government’s flood response plan after inspecting flood-hit areas from a military helicopter.

Referring to the President’s aerial assessment, Aboagye said Ghanaians would like to know what conclusions had been reached and what actions government intended to take.

“Mr. P, can you kindly describe what you saw from the chopper and based on the brief you have received from the anti-flood technical committee, what their solutions are,” he wrote.

He argued that residents were looking for practical measures to address flooding, especially as more rainfall is expected.

“We need solutions now sir, not assurances, not commiserations, not empathy. Solutions,” he stated.

According to Aboagye, flooding has continued to affect different parts of Accra whenever it rains, making immediate intervention necessary.

He said each episode of rainfall expands the list of affected communities and expressed concern that further rain could worsen the situation.

“Tell us what you are going to do to protect us today, not the future. Today’s rain must be survived first,” he wrote.

Aboagye concluded by expressing hope that the President would communicate government’s response plan before any further rainfall.
