Chief Executive Officer for the GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, has disclosed that Ghanaians without a license can engage in mining.
He says that, so far as it is not destroying water bodies or forest reserves, and the concession is not by the roadside, mining activities can take place.
The GoldBod Chief Executive Officer made this statement while speaking at a gathering of stakeholders in the mining industry.
All DCEs have been tasked to provide the government with information on where all miners are working in their districts. If where the miners are working is not a water body, forest reserve, and it’s not by the roadside.
Once it is not a water body, it is not a forest, or by the roadside, if you have a license or not, you can mine, and that is what the government is saying so that we can register them and regularize them,” he said.
