Former presidential staffer and aide to Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has criticised the government over a range of economic and public sector issues.
In a statement shared on social media, Mr Aboagye accused the government of shifting responsibility instead of addressing key concerns.
“You increase ECG and water! You shift blame,” he wrote.
He continued: “You sack employed citizens! You shift blame. You owe teachers and nurses 16 months! You shift blame. You owe cocoa farmers! You shift blame.”
Aboagye concluded his remarks by asking: “What’s your job!!”
His remarks come water bills in after water and light bills recently went up, with a 0.85% water tariff increase that took effect on July 1, 2026.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) approved this upward adjustment as part of its third-quarter tariff review.
Water tariffs increased slightly by 0.85% while Electricity tariffs also went up by 3.49% across all customer categories. The new rates officially began running on July 1, 2026.
