Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has explained that he stepped away from acting last year after what he described as years of continuous production work without rest.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said the decision followed an extended period of filming across multiple projects.
“I stopped acting towards the end of last year,” he said. “I acted from 2017 till last year, about 300 productions including feature films, short films and TV shows. No vacations.”
He said the workload eventually affected his energy and interest in the craft.
“So I got tired because if you do something too much, you just get tired and sick of it,” he said.
Emodi said the break was necessary for him to reset and rebuild his interest in acting.
“I needed that break to find the urge to act again. I still have love for acting,” he said.
He added that his return will be more controlled to avoid burnout.
“I’m coming back now, but I’m not going to overdo it again. I’ll do it in a way that I’m satisfied creatively and not exhausted physically,” he said.
He also admitted responsibility for not managing his workload better.
“I have only myself to blame. I didn’t handle the load properly,” he said.
