Political analyst Sir Yaw Nimako has called for the regulation of preaching on public buses, questioning whether some individuals genuinely spread the gospel or use the activity to make money.
The former MP, speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, argued that bus preaching had, in some instances, become a business venture, citing reports of preachers fighting over buses to conduct their activities.
“That is what they are using as a business. Some even fight over buses. It is a business and has to be regulated,” the former MP said.
He proposed that regulations require preachers to stop their activities and get off a bus before it moves, suggesting clear rules would help manage the practice.
The former legislator stressed that he had never supported the practice and expressed concern about how preaching on public transport is conducted.
“I have never supported such acts,” he stated.
The former MP maintained that regulation was necessary to address concerns about the practice and ensure bus preaching does not continue without clear guidelines.
